I heard Google are pretty good about out of warranty replacements on that model. I think they give out pixels or pixel 2s.

I wonder if they'll care that I took it apart and blasted it with 380°C air to make it (temporarily?) work again.

Another trick I used to get this working is to open it up and stick a penny between the case (where the thermal pad is) and the SoC. Made mine work for ~a week, but it does heat up a lot after that. Enough to pull stuff out.

This one has the SoC on the other side, against the back of the screen. Probably not the best idea to stick a coin in there...

Bootloop?

Not even, just crashes and hangs really early in boot, eventually not even powering on.

There is a known issue with CPU cores disconnecting and an alternative boot image to test for that. I got my 5X replaced out of warrenty few weeks ago.

Wow, my dad's Nexus 5X died yesterday... Simply blacked out with no previous signals of malfunction...

if still on warranty, LG will offer you a new replacement terminal, free of charge. Been there, done that (October 2017). Even if it is out of warranty (attempted repair), you can try persuading them... known defect anyway.
