Sigh, I need to remember to never read the YouTube comments on @Techmoan videos. There is *always* a huge misguided discussion about analog vs. digital that raises my blood pressure. Your argument is invalid unless you have ABX tests to back it. Hint: digital does.

but what if you *want* it to degrade over time
i mean, as an analogy, nothing beats the pleasure of a repeatedly recompressed low quality JPEG -
FWIW, I do think it's fascinating how good analog *can* be. Techmoan's video on the best cassette tape setups is pretty good. I think owning and preserving high quality analog equipment is a fascinating hobby. Just don't delude yourself into saying it beats good digital :-)

I am a vinyl collector, but I'm very aware of the fact that FLAC with a good setup sounds better. I however like the decorum, and the cleverness of the analog storage. I guess being a computer scientist made the magic behind digital storage disappear a little.

Enjoying the format for its own sake and the hardware is certainly fine; if I had the space and money I certainly wouldn't mind having some nice retro equipment. I'm talking about the people who claim/think it's actually fundamentally superior.
