host-0 $ ssh -C host-1 -L 9999:localhost:9999 host-1 $ nc -l localhost 9999 | zfs recv host-0 $ zfs send | nc localhost 9999 This isn’t how you’re supposed to do this but it works great (`zfs send | ssh -C host-1 zfs recv` also works but that’s less interactive)
Be careful with netcat. I seem to recall it (some version?) having bad flush/end-of-stream behavior sometimes. It sucks when you send a tarball and the last few kilobytes get truncated off. Test first.

I’ve done this before with larger zfs send | zfs recv transmissions without real problem
