I still haven't figured out a way to *reliably* extract Japanese SJIS zip files on Linux. unzip/7z work on files with extended UTF-8 filenames. unzip always mangles SJIS. LANG=C 7z passes through SJIS and convmv can convert to UTF-8, but that mangles UTF-8 extended zips.

All zip files created on Japanese Windows. Though if you're lucky they also have UTF-8 extended filename fields. I just downloaded a bunch of zip files and about half didn't.

I remember burning a CD with a french accent in a filename that made it unaccessible under Japanese Windows 98 :)

I'm just glad `ls' semi-recently grew the ability to escape binary garbage in filename lists. Makes dealing with these things a lot less painful.pic.twitter.com/PE6vplhNAr
