Linux kernels sure build faster with all drivers disabled. I'm at about 100 seconds on my laptop.

He probably disabled USB support too. But with some Serial Driver(8250/1655), you can boot it/use it on Qemu :p
Yeah, it has serial support and that's pretty much it. No storage/block devices. Initramfs only. ACPI only because I need SMP. It's for Qemu.

Then you need virtio drivers.

No virtio drivers either. I literally have a serial port and that's it. I even disabled the PCI bus entirely. My kernel boot-time dmesg is barely longer than one screenful.
