Can you mask individual bits in modern ram? Isn’t the minimum fetch size 1 byte? (row/column addressing lands on 8 bits)

The granularity is one page (4KiB). But I'm actually killing three 1MiB blocks around the bad bits, which makes it DIMM-slot-independent.

Because new RAM is just as likely to have weak bits as this one, and DDR3 is a waste of money since it's obsolete.
