I know right. My entire desk/workshop is all grounded together... But it all goes back to a single socket that is ungrounded.

and grounded japanese outlets have a separate screwterminal on the socket for the ground, for ease of use im guessing.

Some are like that, some more modern ones have the ground pin. I'm told it was to avoid a patent on the 3 pin plug...

Althoug we obsessive people want all our plugs grounded, is only neccessary for big or inductive charges. Local transformers copes the rest.

Grounding has nothing to do with how big the load is and everything to do with what kind of isolation is in place.
