Assuming it's not a playback system issue, do you have any idea what kind of frequency range is to blame for what you're describing?

it must be your headphones/speakers because very specifically on multiple headphones I can hear SCREE SCREE SCREE SCREE on many of the notes

I'm pretty confident my hardware isn't eating any frequencies. Focusrite Saffire 24→Superlux HD668B and I can hear up to >18kHz with this.
