Except for the part where WiFi has (if sometimes flawed) encryption and authentication, and wired has nothing.

If you think wired is more vulnerable to non-insider threats, you are nuts. And, if you really need it, 802.1ae and ipsec are right there...

They are different technologies with different threat models. I'm saying "just use wired" is naïve. And yes, I use IPSec on my home LAN :)
