Sigh, the amount of misinformation around KRACK is making me want to pull my hair out. "Stop using all WiFi! Never use public WiFi" *groan*

Also, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to stop using public WiFi over this. None. We already don't rely on public WiFi security.

what does “openly accessible devices” mean in this case?
-
Like a NAS or something, especially with no authentication. An actual server you don't want others to have access to, and without TLS.

A hacker moto: "Keep calm and let me hack your wifi"
-
KRACK doesn't even let you "hack your wifi", at least not the way most people understand "hack your wifi" (get the password or connect).

WiFi is, and always has been, terrible. It's always going to be at least somewhat less secure, and somewhat less reliable. Use wired
-
Except for the part where WiFi has (if sometimes flawed) encryption and authentication, and wired has nothing.
