if python 2.7 is being deprecated in 2.5 years then why is it the python installed on my very new computer

Most default it to py2. even the python project says to default it to py2 until its eol'd.

I believe Arch, Gentoo, and recent Ubuntu default to Py3 these days.

Figured. Apple is always years behind on Python versions. They were on 2.4 when 2.7 was a thing. They don't particularly care about OSS.
