if python 2.7 is being deprecated in 2.5 years then why is it the python installed on my very new computer

I distinctly remember my professor telling one of my classmates to use python 3 because 2.x was on the way out in... 2008-2009
I finally switched to Py3 by default this year and am porting projects to it. It's usually quick and easy; most libs are finally there.

Most computers ought to have *both* Py2 and Py3 and these days most distros default /use/bin/python to Py3 as far as I know.

Most default it to py2. even the python project says to default it to py2 until its eol'd.
