I knew I'd like Japan after a few visits, but by the time I decided to take the plunge I'd had a JP company trying to hire me for a year.
That was cool short term but it didn't work out; however I had plans B,C,D. D worked out and now I'm happy freelancing.

B and C were two other companies; D was freelance with a company I knew was atypically good as my main client :-)

I definitely wouldn't want to ever have been in a situation with no plan trying to scrape together a job.
