Are you telling me that the will of Spanish people must prevail over the will of Catalonian people? For real?

That's kind of how most countries are set up. Otherwise all constitutions would have a "anyone can leave" clause.

No, actually, is the opposite. Most countries got their independence against the will of the "host" country. Like, almost always.

Also, you can put your words on perspective: USA got their independence illegally, as it was against the will of the Brits. C'mon!

Exactly - in armed revolutions. But this isn't an armed revolution, it's a referendum. That doesn't work without support from the host.

If only Catalans were armed this would be Syria dude. No one would want that.

Actually, they are half-armed. But they do not want a military conflict. Indeed, it would be Spain who would start such a thing.

I don't think most Spanish people, Catalonian or not, would want this to escalate anywhere near military conflict.

My opinion is just the opposite: in Spain there are many voices calling for it. A big share of the voters to PP and Ciudadanos.

As shitty as the political situation is in Spain, I think you severely overestimate how much of an asshole the average Spaniard is.

I.e. however you feel about Catalonia, seriously, nobody wants a fucking war.

I hope so. Slovenians said the same back in the day. Then Yugoslavia started the 10 days war to prevent them from being independent.
