Europe has always said the same: they do not enter into "internal affairs". Also, appealing to Europe might take more than a decade.
That's kind of how most countries are set up. Otherwise all constitutions would have a "anyone can leave" clause.

No, actually, is the opposite. Most countries got their independence against the will of the "host" country. Like, almost always.

Also, you can put your words on perspective: USA got their independence illegally, as it was against the will of the Brits. C'mon!
