There's a reason why USB connectors are different on both ends. This is a blatant spec violation (and dangerous).

I used to have a relatively nice mousepad with an integrated USB HUB. Unfortunately all five connectors were the same.

+1 but if I understand this allows you to make an extension cord (which are rare) out of a regular cord.

No, A-A cables are also nonstandard. You need an A female-B female adapter to make an extension cord. That's nonstandard but not terrible.

You can just use it to extend power only USB.
