There's a reason why USB connectors are different on both ends. This is a blatant spec violation (and dangerous).
I used to have a relatively nice mousepad with an integrated USB HUB. Unfortunately all five connectors were the same.

No, A-A cables are also nonstandard. You need an A female-B female adapter to make an extension cord. That's nonstandard but not terrible.
You can just use it to extend power only USB.
How? Power comes out B ends, not A ends.
Exception: A cable with two A plugs that behaves as a pair of NICs for transferring files between hosts. (But that's not this.)
