      I know "both sides" isn't in vogue these days, but there's a healthy dose of BS tactics in use by both sides here, and citizens are split.

      But it can all be summarized easily: most Catalonian people want to vote, Spanish government is trying to prevent them from voting.

      The problem is "well we're going to vote anyway" isn't a valid tactic to fix this issue, as that inevitably biases the vote.

      What is the solution if one of the involved parties don't want to negotiate? Deciding "well, we're going to vote anyway" is totally right.

      The right approach IMO is to appeal to Europe if Spain is doing something that is arguably against Catalonia's rights.

      Europe has always said the same: they do not enter into "internal affairs". Also, appealing to Europe might take more than a decade.

      Europe does care about human rights; democratic political change of this nature moves slowly. This isn't a trivial issue at all.

          Europe might care. But, so far, they never cared unless a flagrant violation of Human Rights happened, like in Basque Country cases.
