Grep on the log says I've compiled a total of 69100 packages in these 13 years, or an average of 14.5 per day.
And I did 938 'emerge --sync's and a total of 2390 world updates, though only ~400 "unique" ones (on different days), or 3 per month.
My only gripes with Gentoo are compile times for bigger things and package availability. I do very much admire it still though, very cool.
Packages that are the bane of every Gentoo desktop user: Chromium, Firefox, Libreoffice, and like four different WebKit variants.
How much total downtime? And how many restarts?
Sorry, I don't keep syslogs that far back :-). But not that many, you only really need to restart for kernel updates.
Doesn't feel you alone, I've also "hotcloned" my OS when upgraded HDD a couple of times! #ps4 joined the party here, thanks man!
Nice ! Have my Debian inst since 2002. Managed to upd to 64bit w/o reinst, cost nerves.
