Note that the "attack cost" on http://smbloris.com is wrong: it does not count packet headers. True cost is ~30x higher, per 30sec.
That means that to attack a server with 80GiB RAM you need to send 2.5MB*30 = 75MB / 30 seconds over Ethernet = 20mbps. Still easy.
