In my opinion, fixing an isolated bug like that and *not* reporting it upstream is the real sin here.

Think about it: if instead of reporting that grsec DoS I'd just fixed it in my own fork and demanded credit if grsec fixed it later?

I dunno about you but that sounds completely unreasonable and stupid to me (and I'd rightly get trolled for it).

We have different opinions. I personally check all relevant projects if I work on something. And try to not miss details

So you check every semi relevant kernel fork under the sun for any particular bug you might fix?

But hey, that's how I work. And most often I don't have troubles nor spend huge amount of time cut and pasting
