In my opinion, fixing an isolated bug like that and *not* reporting it upstream is the real sin here.
Think about it: if instead of reporting that grsec DoS I'd just fixed it in my own fork and demanded credit if grsec fixed it later?

Have you done anything else in the world beyond that D.o.S.? BTW, they would have given you credit.

*after* the fact? They'd have retroactively fixed their changelog to give credit after I point it out? I doubt it.
