If you actually dig deeper into the "copyright issues" with KSPP, you'll note that they're nitpicks, legitimate mistakes, or just wrong

Also, if you dig deeper into grsecurity itself, you'll find problems, like lack of changelog attribution for older changes

grsecurity is trying as hard as it can to make it difficult to merge while attributing properly, by virtue of being a monolithic patch

They also can't decide exactly how much attribution they want - too much and it tarnishes their brand, too little and it's a violation

No one in KSPP land is saying "fuck you grsec, you don't get attribution". Actual mistakes are being corrected. Non-mistakes aren't.

E.g. one of the supposed mistakes was that according to Spender the license in grsecurity/Makefile covers the entire directory.

So upstreaming files in that subdirectory without somehow magically knowing that amounts to removing copyright notices according to him.

Of course, *nobody else thinks a Makefile is a reasonable place to put a copyright statement that should apply to the whole directory*.
