That's not my concerns. I still think LF/CII should buy me PaX/Grsec's test patch. Spender/PaX team treated us well in past 16 yrs until..

It makes no sense to blame other people for Spender's decision to stop sharing. That decision is his and his alone.

it make sense to me and some other ppl. We made our point very clear: https://hardenedlinux.github.io/announcement/2017/04/29/hardenedlinux-statement2.html …

I read that article. The whole "upstream/KSPP takes and gives nothing back" narrative is complete nonsense.

grsecurity takes... the entire rest of the kernel from upstream. Guess what's more important, the grsec patch, or everything else?

If we look at security features, Grsec. If we look at an OS, Linux, of course. It's so obvious it hurts, how you miss the point due to bias

What good are security features without an OS to apply them to?

What good is an OS without hardware to run it on? What good is hardware without mankind? Should we bring mankind in every conversation?

We are talking creating security features here. Everything else that Linux accomplished is orthogonal. There is no 'debt' to Linux.

Grsecurity isn't a magical set of OS-agnostic security features. It's a *Linux kernel patchset*. There's a big difference.

And since Linux is GPLv2 (and so is grsecurity), there's no 'debt' to grsecurity either. You fork GPLv2 code, upstream gets to upstream it.

Indeed, so we agree. And agree that copyright needs to be respected (and, beyond all, it should be respected morally).

The advances that GRSEC/PaX has brought in the field have benefitted more than just Linux. And it could be made OS agnostic.
