grsecurity takes... the entire rest of the kernel from upstream. Guess what's more important, the grsec patch, or everything else?
The whole point of the GPLv2 is that we all benefit from everyone's work. grsecurity stopped sharing, so now we have to use what they left.

Obviously it will take time to improve upstream sec to the point where grsecurity is today... but once it's done the benefits are obvious.

Yes, grsec innovated and did so first. That doesn't mean they get a free pass to shit on everyone else and blame them for pulling the plug.

speaking of GPL, they don't violate GPL. Those stable/test patches are still share with the customer who pay.

They actually do violate the GPL, but not in that way (and those violations are upstream now). They distribute a GPLv2 plugin to GPLv3 code.
