I'd say the author of this is someone with zero knowledge of how website hosting and software development works.based on their statements
He's got page view numbers too. It's still a ~10x page view growth factor vs. ~50x revenue growth factor, which is ridiculous.

They're scaling a PHP+mysql site, I don't think they're in for an easy time. No doubt there's waste of money, but it's not all that dramatic

They admit to having ridiculous amounts of technical debt. Not fixing that means the foundation is grossly mismanaged, technically.
