My beef with spender is irrelevant, but spender's attitude towards pretty much everyone else in kernel dev is relevant, as is licensing.

Non-technical merits like those are actually critically important to acceptance of a free software project. They can make or break it.

They also result in downstream technical issues. E.g. grsecurity not being merged makes it often incompatible with out-of-tree modules.

Complaining about spender's attitude is a beautiful example of victim shaming, and plz don't make me grep LKML, it's a long-standing issue.

Bringing up the term "victim shaming" in this context is a beautiful example of the kind of blind side-taking that fosters conflict.

Guess what, it's entirely possible to be a victim of wrongdoing *and* be an asshole *and* violate licenses at the same time.

It's also entirely possible to author brilliant mitigations *and* have such terrible people skills that half the community avoids you.
