My DLP blew bulb after 4 yrs - "uh oh.. $350" but due to being 'old' model, bulb+housing on Ebay=$25! A 1080p 3spd DLP 'obsolete'? Whatev!

I paid 225 bucks for a replacement. There are cheaper generic/non-sanctioned ones, but the reviews are terrible. Don't want to risk it.

You might be able to get Epson to replace it -- they had a multi-year run of bad bulbs they replaced under warranty. I had the same failure.

Too late, already ordered a new one. Plus I'm on the other side of the world from where I bought it, so warrant would be tricky :/

Most bulbs only last a few thousand hours at best, the heat gets to the glass base eventually they then crack it's normal.
