They also assert that country is immutable. I've gone through 4 PayPal accounts and keep two open in two countries.

might not want to publicly admit the latter fact, seeing as it's against ToS.
Thankfully I stopped keeping any money in PayPal after they held €1.5k hostage for months. Just use it for payments.

at this point I prefer Bitcoin to Paypal for accepting payments. In all likelihood I'll lose much less.

Indeed. I can't even remember the last time I had someone PayPal me money. SEPA or Bitcoin or cash please.
