      it's physically part of the GPU/SB chip, yes. ARM926EJ-S. Logically speaking it has nothing to do with the GPU though

      There's a register you can set to get direct access to the hardware from the PPC. Then it's standard EHCI/OHCI.

      It's been well known and documented for a while. Lots of tools use it (it's basically a "security off" bit)
