      we're talking about a standard SHA-1 hash of the whole file.

      So you're saying that adding a specific block means that no change to the rest of the file changes the hash?

      Changing the rest of the file changes the hash, but the same change on both means the hash stays the same.

          If A and B are colliding prefixes then SHA1(A||x) == SHA1(B||x) != SHA1(A||y) == SHA1(B||y).
