You *can't* commit both to the same repo. When you git add the 2nd it'll say "I already have that"

Yes you can. The sample SHA1 collision does not affect git because git prefixes objects before hashing.

In general MD collisions like this one can be appended to, but not prepended to.

This is because initial state matters. A collision independent of that would indicate a huge weakness.
