      I crafted the collision prefix to guarantee that no matter what the collision blocks would be, we could obtain 2 valid (PDF) files...

      the collision block have a fixed mask difference. so we knew in advance the minimal distance.

      otherwise I would have mapped the difference bit to the highest byte of the comment length.

          IIRC I also used jumps around too in my MegaDrive/SNES/PDF polyglot - for the MD code to jump out to safety.
