compile? poor HPC folks need to maintain and optimize 30 year old FORTRAN code for use in production (large scale cluster) envs :)

I doubt HPC wants to spend time “just in time” compiling (frying). Pre compiling (backing) is faster.

@marcan42 Fortran code is good, for a large set of math problems the Fortran syntax is simpler than C and Fortran performance is higher -
