Do you mean companies that hire *exclusively* from SO? Balance is important but no candidate pool is bias-free.
How does that work then? I imagine companies should be judged by the totality of their hiring pool, not a single component.
Because no component is unbiased, and some may be good indicators for other reasons. You can compensate/counter the bias.
I literally think companies shouldn't spend any effort recruiting white men. White male candidates fall out of the sky.
I doubt cos would hire from SO *with the intent of* hiring white men. Presumably it's a good indicator of something else.
But they know that's who they're going to get though. Those companies rarely have conscious, explicit intent.
I stand by my point that it means the company doesn't care about diversity.
All I'm saying is I don't think the mere fact "partially hires from SO" automatically disqualifies a company from caring.
