      Not using an LPF at all doesn't really work well, as sometimes you get blips and that triggers the squelch.

      To be fair, it also has slow-unsquelch (added later), which kind of makes the LPF redundant to an extent.

          You still want it for the opposite problem though (brief blips causing spurious squelching).
