..and of course in the first version, the ID filtering wasn't done in the interrupt, so worked fine.
Could set it up so if it sees a '0' you know it's an invalid address and try again next interrupt?
Once you knew to do that, you've already found the root issue & can fix properly.
It could still be the wrong ID. You can only fix this by either disabling interrupts or doing an atomic write.
Atomic write is the correct fix - collect bits first in a temp var then copy to dipval
And you need to make sure dipval is volatile or the compiler might optimize the temp var out behind your back ;)
