Just conjecture as I'm not sure how HDCP is implemented in modern systems, but I can imagine them wanting to avoid geohot 2.0 ;)
The PS4 doesn't do HDCP 2.0 and the HDCP 1 master key is public so *anyone* can compute their ps4's HDCP keys from its KSV.

Ah, ok, that's that theory out of the window then! Weird that it doesn't support HDCP 2.0 though.

Perhaps they saw the Blackberry PlayBook talk and were worried about HDMI CEC bugs popping their southbridge! :D
