      As far as I know it's still used by default for serial ports on several distros.

      Well yeah :P AFAIK historically UUCP ran over serial lines and modems, hence the usage. UUCP is dead but the group name remains.

          ... which might lead me to hacking the thing at some point, just because. But I'm pretty sure whatever CPU it has can't run Linux.
