recordingport+headphone = audiorecord it always worked. It has low input because no amplifier but it works fine
Due to how Intel HDA is designed chances are good you can turn on the mic preamp on the "line out" jack. They're flexible.

I've actually done this in the past, it's trivial with HDA-Analyzer. Never thought to spin it as a "security" issue though.
