Looking for an iPhone virtual instrument designed for playing arbitrary melodies - that can do better than a 1D virtual piano keyboard.

I found plenty of apps that sort of give you partial control over an ensemble of instruments, with chords and loops, etc…)

Except for apps that try to simulate a physical instrument (piano or guitar), which are suboptimal.

Actually, I found an app called Twyst with a neat idea: three buttons, each possible combo of pressed/not pressed produced a different note.

It was pretty awesome. They also did the shitty version from ep1 which was hilarious :D
