      That's an SRE prescreen; the recruiter was an idiot if that's precisely what transpired. I've seen that Q&A sheet.

      It's meant as a pre-filter but sometimes the questions aren't terribly well chosen; OTOH the interviewee was a pedant.

      answering in hex about the TCP exchange is just trolling TBH. May work with an engineer, definitely not with a recruiter :P

      But the recruiters I've had sat next to me were more competent at administering this. Especially since they aren't engineers.

      They aren't supposed to think the answers on the sheet are the literal only precise correct ones and anything else is Wrong™.

      But the sheet also doesn't have single right answers, it tries to cover some variants but it can't cover them all.
