This 64-bit Gentoo Linux install is now 12 years old, and I found an old screenshot from 12 years ago. Funny how things change... and don't.pic.twitter.com/mpU8JcNKBf

NOstalgia! I still think Kicker worked better than Plasma ever has.
That too. But Plasma panels have always been sluggish to render on everything I've owned and they never did reach feature parity.
I don't have much of a performance complaint these days, but it still does... weird things sometimes.
OTOH my biggest Plasma gripe is with multi-monitor/switching support, and I only had one monitor 12y ago, so that I can't compare.
I never had any real complaints about multiscreen setup with KDE 3.5; Unlike Plasma, which can never _remember my static layout_.
On my Arch laptop w/external DP screen, every time I boot Plasma fails to load the desktop/panel correctly, have to kill&reload
works fine on my main Gentoo workstation/laptop statically... but when I change things it likes to randomly swap desktops/panels.
