I assume so, would be a waste otherwise. Other metros I've used just use paper tickets for single journeys.

I think X-Ray of your bags is pretty common in China. They did this in Shanghai too. Funny to see how nobody cares during rushhour

xray is for public safety as they said. lol. these little coin-like tickets is only used in few cities, others still use card.
