@marver @pmarreck @grsecurity Can't write kernels in Golang or node, but I'm considering Rust for my next bare metal kernel-like project.

@marcan42 sure you can, in fact, Go used to ship with a bare-metal runtime.

@aramh From what I've seen, the current codebase is far from the point where that would work.

@marcan42 Speaking from the experience of porting it to two architectures and two operating systems, I assure you that is not the case.

@aramh So how do I compile Go code in freestanding mode, in a way that will work on an OS-less system? Rust can do that.

@marcan42 you have to revive the bare-metal target. it's not there yet, but it's relatively trivial to resurrect, one or two days of work.
