Food for thought: the PS2 (2000) had a 64-bit CPU with 128-bit SIMD, while the Wii U (2012) has a 32-bit CPU with 64-bit SIMD.

@marcan42 N64 was 64 bit, too. PS3 was 32 bit again. 64 bit does not necessarily mean faster.
@Midar3 PS3 PPU was very much 64-bit, and the Cell SPEs were dedicated 128-bit SIMD processors.

@Midar3 64bit is strictly superior to 32bit (all else being equal), but not by much. However 32bit is often an indicator of a dated design. -
