      @JMoVS basically their AP pretends to be your AP and tells the client to disconnect as soon as it connects.

      @marcan42 would setting my AP to not show the name (“hidden network”) prevent that? Or is that MAC spoofing based?

      @JMoVS won't help, they'll still see the association request and spoof the MAC of the fake deauth packet.

      @JMoVS Only with clients supporting 802.11w. Look it up. Without that extension, management traffic is completely insecure.

      @JMoVS No idea, but regardless of how they do the initial handshake, if it becomes regular 802.11 in the end, without w it's vulnerable.

          @JMoVS It should be doable in software/firmware, but that doesn't mean they won't only do it on newer hw anyway. Who knows.
