@bofh453 Yeah I realized that later, it fits the formula completely if you assign ¥ to the \ position.
Specifically, (x & 0x40) ? (x ^ 0x20) : (x ^ 0x10) works to convert unshifted ASCII to shifted ASCII in the JIS layout for all but two keys.

@bofh453 I blame Microsoft for that one... it's ridiculous that in 2015 they still randomly ignore Unicode and do that in some fonts.
