Just installed a new Win 7 VM and I can't even get the keyboard layout correct (Japanese) without fucking around with the registry. WTF, MS?

@urherenow Physically, yes. This is a VM so the VM presents a generic USB keyboard. Apparently this confuses Windows. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927824
@urherenow I have no idea how they managed such a braindead design that manually choosing the Japanese layout doesn't actually work.

@urherenow If I tell Windows that I have a JP keyboard, and it uses the US layout, then that's stupid and a bug. No other OS does that. - Show replies
