140 char tweet in Japanese is so expressive that we can do the whole discussion which otherwise would be 45 minute podcast episode.

@marcan42 @sutolyst @kovnsk it used to be bytes, at some point changed to characters, which IMO is at least more consistent.
@miyagawa @sutolyst @kovnsk I get the feeling that UTF-8 bytes is a closer approximation to information density than characters, though.
