The buttons/webcam/control part of the new gamepad go through a separate USB controller, but it's disabled in vWii mode.

@marcan42 now I get why they did this really confident move, they didn't expose WiiU controller at all, just its separate video output. TNX
@Il_Giuda I was always pretty sure it was possible from a technical POV. Apparently they planned it all along.
